This Blog covers some recent goings on at home, research, excursions and how these things overlap. The photo above is from a visit to Inver Sawmill (near Dunkeld) to go to the Woodworking Open Day at Brodies Timber. I bought the little Dovetail Square there.

These images are from the beautiful garden of Ann(e) who generously opened it to visitors on the day of the event, what a relaxing treat to have a look around!

This is my garden with a little visitor.

It so happens that just before this I had been working on designs for a possible commission and I had proposed carving a rabbit in this defensive position – I couldn’t believe the serendipity, or how close it allowed me to get, I thought it was a one off but it kept coming back night after night.

My idea had evolved from a rabbit with ears that were vertical and joined to something more like this netsuke.
On a visit to Perth Museum I was taken with this information on Charles Macintosh AKA Mr McGregor.

As part of my work as lead artist at Dunfermline Learning Campus we are hoping to have a design charrette to get everyone thinking about ideas for an artwork and sharing their thoughts on this brand new place. I’ve been discussing the possibilities with Fergus Purdie Architects, Fergus has got lots of ideas, enthusiasm and energy! Here is a little give away that FPA made for the Venice Biennale in 2018.
