Common Source built on research undertaken at the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, for The Plough and the Reaper (2009), a public sculpture commissioned by Anstruther Town Centre Working Group. When I was scratching around for ideas at the museum I collected the names of vessels built in St Monans, Fife by Walter Reekie or James N Miller & Sons. It took many years before my jottings were revisited and developed a purpose in this work.
